CELIA LAWSON
Director and Pre-K Teacher
Celia Lawson has been the director and pre-Kindergarten teacher for Helping Hands Christian Preschool since its founding in 1995. With a degree in Early Education, Celia received specialties in both administration and special education. She also earned the Child Development Master Teacher Permit. In accordance with Helping Hands Christian Preschool policy, Celia is certified annually in CPR and First Aid, as are all of the staff for HHCP.
For over thirty years, Celia has been married to Ray Lawson, who leads chapel for the students twice a month. Celia and Ray are blessed to have four children, all of whom are now adults. The youngest two graduated from Helping Hands Christian Preschool.
Celia is an active member of her community and volunteers at the church of Christ, Meals on Wheels, Morello Park Elementary School, Mountain View Emergency Family Shelter, Out of the Darkness suicide prevention, Project Second Chance adult literacy, Relay for Life, Shelter, Inc. and various other outreaches.
Helping Hands is exactly what the names says, it gives you a helping hand in raising your kids. But Celia, the director went much further for us… when I went thru chemo treatment, she took it upon her to organize a dinner drive for my family and me. So during my low times, ladies from the Martinez church of Christ would bring us home cooked meals. It really kept our family healthy, as most days I was too tired to cook. So HHCP not only was our preschool family, but it also has become our church family, we couldn't be happier to have found both 5 years ago.
